Nominations Open For "Distinguished Alumnae Of The Year Award"
Alumni, parents, guardians and supporters of Divine Word University in Papua New Guinea and overseas are invited to nominate an alumnus (male former graduate) or an alumna (female former graduate) for the “2021 Distinguished Alumnae of the Year Award”. The alumni include graduates of Divine Word University and its predecessor institutions, namely Divine Word Institute and Divine Word High School.
The Award introduced in 2015 is presented to the winner or winners on the DWU Foundation Day and Alumni Day on the 21st August 2021. This year it will be announced on Friday 20 August since the 21st falls on a weekend.
Kindly take time to identify someone who meets the criteria and nominate him or her for the Award.
The University states that the Award is the “Highest honor bestowed upon alumni by DWU.”
The University recognises outstanding accomplishments by alumni in three categories:
Personal Achievement in career or professional growth – Attain prominence in chosen career
Service to Society – Display integrity and demonstrate commitment to service to society through an interest in bettering the lives of others through volunteer efforts
Service to alma mater (University) – Nominee’s deeds reflect pride in alma mater and show loyalty to DWU upbringing through support and interest of the University
Across the country, sports and recreation clubs are the hub of community life.
A group of alumni members are leading the way with one such initiative using rugby as the tool to address cross cutting issues in our communities today, such as gender based violence, substance abuse, homelessness and criminal activities.
The Saints Rugby Football Union Club was formed with the vision to improve the health and well-being of individuals, particularly the youths whilst at the same time contributing to their empowerment and promoting the development of inclusive communities through the club’s various advocacy programs.
The club will be approaching alumni in the near future to invite interested volunteers who are willing to come on board and support the club with it’s initiatives.
